What I’m Up To

Not a whole lot has changed really. Just cruising through life the best that I know how.

I’m still writing and drawing on my books, and I’m still creating artwork for my online stores, though I haven’t posted any new art yet.

I’ve been busy with work and trying to save some money to buy more art supplies, which is really hard nowadays it seems like.

I’ve been struggling with the decision to give up art for while in order to get things lined back up and save some cash. I don’t buy a whole of materials and what I do buy goes quickly, especially when my ideas are coming faster than I can get them onto a canvas or into Photoshop.

Indian Boy Cover ArtI still plan on trying to release my Indian Boy book by the end of the year. I still have a lot to do, but if I work hard I can get it done….I hope.

My mind works non-stop and I can’t seem to keep up with it. New ideas pop up and while I’m trying to flesh those ideas out, another idea comes up for an old project. So, I’m having a hard time focusing on one thing.

My wife and I are thinking of buying a house to get out of the small mobile home that we’re in currently. We’ew tired of renting and just want something of our own that we can fix up as we would like.

I’ve been reading A LOT!

Here’s what I’ve been into lately:

Novels

Poetry

There’s more. There’s always more…

But as I’m sure you could tell, most of these authors and poets are Native American/First Nations people. I do what I can to support them, because as a native (Shawnee) man my self, I understand the importance of representing, not just who I am, but who we all are as native people.

Native American/First Nations people struggle for a place in mainstream society. That’s why I hope to be able to represent the Shawnee people through my stories and artwork.

That doesn’t mean I don’t like non-native authors. I love reading some Dan Brown, Stephen King, Dente Collins, Neil Hilborn, Jason Reynolds, Kwame Alexander, plus many more…

I just gotta represent, you know?

But, I’m trucking on the best that I can. I get discouraged at times when I see that I’m not selling anything, but I just keep creating things because that’s what I love to do.

I hope things start coming together someday.

Neyiwa!
